Tansa is fence. What about epiphany? Kinoukaban do ginavo or kinoulalaan ( do mato). Methinks. Kangku daa.

RICE 101 - What is 'togod' in English?

'Togod', a Kadazan word, is that stuff on rice husk that can make you feel itchy. Too much of it that is. Is there a name for that in English? Not dust. I don't think so. I'm stumped.

Wishing to be Merlin

Tootopot do 'nokohogos' zou.(English: I totally suck).

Au zou apandai mamakai do kompute(r). (English: I suck at using a computer).

Not sure when to catch the 4th season of Merlin. My children and I saw all the three-season episodes of Merlin. I love that show. In fact I like all the characters in the show. They could really transport me to their world of magic. The cast perform their characters superbly. I cried openly when Merlin showed his sadness for not being able to save his biological father.

That brings me to my wishing to be Merlin. I wrote more 'counting in kadazan' in my blog to post. I lost it again. I get carried away a lot of times. Going off on tangents. I suck (nokohogos) at following instructions. While I may have ideas, I still need to harness them to cohesiveness. Yet, it doesn't stop there. That is the reason I wish for Merlin's magic. I want to be able to just stare at my laptop screen and transfer my thoughts I want to share. Well, it's not going to happen. I'm hoping my nine-year- old will teach me a few tricks. He's savvier than me at using a computer. Sad.

I remember my sisters used to say 'nokohogos' to euphemise anything that is left much to be desired. Especially to disapprove a character.

Nokohogos is something like 'au nototoina'. Abandoned or not polished  or neglected therefore it sucks. For example, I suck at using a computer because I don't use it often. Or I'm daft. Just don't want to better myself.

My take on the kadazan word 'nokohogos'. It could mean bad, not savvy, do not know or sucks.

Counting in Kadazan

I am a novice.  I was about to post my jottings but it all disappeared. Not sure what I've done.

So, I'm going to retype the whole composition all over again. For want of a better phrase.

I've been trying to teach my children Kadazan. They are too occupied. Online game championship is where the bulk of their free time is spent. I'm vying for their attention. I am just so tired of begging.

Anyways,  I was sharing with the youngest counting in Kadazan.

  1. one - iso
  2. two - duvo
  3. three - tohu
  4. four - apat
  5. five- himo
  6. six - onom
  7. seven - tuu
  8. eight - vahu
  9. nine - sizam
  10. ten - opod
  11. eleven - opod om iso

  19. nineteen - opod om sizam

'Om' means and.

Back to losing my data earlier, I was trying to mediate the competing gamers (my children) from getting rough with one another, I lost my  own ground.
Till next time.
